武汉船舶职业技术学院

武汉船舶职业技术学院创建于1950年，是一所中央与地方共建、由湖北省人民政府管理的全日制普通高等学校。

学院以“立足船舶、服务军工、面向社会”为办学定位，“以人为本、质量立院、特色创优”为治校方针，半个多世纪以来，为国家工业化和国防现代化建设培养输送了各级各类人才5万余名。学院面向全国招生，现有全日制在校生13000人。

学院坐落在素有“九省通衢”之称的武汉市中心城区，南濒月湖，北临汉水。学院环湖而建，别具现代风格，是莘莘学子求学深造的理想园地。

学院拥有一支素质较高、结构合理的双师型教师队伍。现有专任教师541人，其中副高以上职称教师140人，国务院政府特殊津贴获得者、湖北省有突出贡献的中青年专家7人，教育部高职高专教学指导委员会专家4人、教育部高职高专评估专家3人。国家级教学团队3个。

学院设有机械工程学院、动力工程学院、船舶与海洋工程学院、电气与电子工程学院、经济与管理学院、公共课部和工业中心、职业技能鉴定中心、高等职业教育研究所，并设有继续教育学院、国际文化交流学院。开设31个高职专业，其中国家级精品专业建设项目1个、教育部教改试点专业2个、国家示范院校重点建设专业5个、湖北省高校科研优势与特色领域1个、国防科工局重点支持的军工专业6个、湖北省高职高专重点建设专业13个，国家精品课程6门省级精品课程23门。

学院建有轮机中心、现代制造中心、电气自动化中心、计算机信息网络中心、商务中心等18个校内综合训练基地。拥有船舶建造、船舶机舱仿真、数控加工、PLC及自动控制、计算机网络技术、酒店服务等106个设施先进、功能完善的实训室。其中，国家财政部重点建设的实训室6个。学院还拥有中型企业规模的生产性实习工厂，是国家船舶柴油机配套产品定点生产单位、美国石油学会（API）独家认可的厂家。

半个多世纪以来，船院人筚路蓝缕，创业如歌。新时期船院人在这块寄托着洋务运动风云人物——张之洞“实业兴国”梦想，近代著名造船专家、兵器专家——徐建寅，新四军军工奠基人——朱毅，中国的保尔——兵工专家吴运铎战斗生活过的热土上，勤奋工作，努力把学院办成办学特色鲜明，办学水平较高，具有一定国际影响的高等职业院校。

Wuhan Institute of Shipbuilding Technology (WIST) was founded in 1950. It is a full-time academy established by both the central and local government and mainly under the administration of the People's Government of Hubei Province.

WIST adheres to the guideline of being based upon shipbuilding industry, serving the military industry and being oriented towards the need of society. It also has attached great importance to humanism, high-quality education and characteristics of specialties. For half a century, it has fostered more than 50,000 graduates for the construction of our national industrialization and national defense modernization. WIST is a host to students from all over the country and now it has 13,000 resident students.

 The institute is located beside the beautiful Moon Lake, just in the central place of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, which is known as 'the thoroughfare leading to nine provinces in China.' With Haniiang River to its north and Moon Lake to its south, WIST was built up around a beautiful lake, and it is an ideal place for the students to study. 

As greater efforts have been made to the quality of education for many years, the institute has set up a creative teaching staff with strong sense of responsibility. They are not only specialized theoretical teachers but also can work as professional technicians. There are 541 professional teachers. 140 of them are associated professors and professors. Among them, there are 7 young academic experts who have been awarded Government Special Prize by the State Council for their considerable contribution to the local province, 4 professors who have been selected as members of the committee directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education to supervise the education in higher vocational institutes and 3 professors who are the experts appointed by the Ministry of Education to assess the qualification of higher vocational institutes. And there are 3 national teaching teams.
   The institute consists of Mechanical Engineering Department, Dynamic Engineering Department, Shipbuilding Engineering Department, Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department, Economics and Management Department, Public Courses Department, Training Center, Project Training Center, Vocational Skill Evaluating Center, Research Center of Higher Vocational Education, International Culture Exchange College, and Continuous Education School

At present, the institute offers 31 higher vocational undergraduate programs, including 1 state-level project of excellent specialty construction, 2 experimental specialties for education reform of the Ministry of Education, 5 key construction specialties of national demonstrative higher vocational institutes, 1 preponderant field of scientific research among colleges in Hubei Province, 6 war industry key specialties supported by the National Defense Science and Industry Committee, 13 key specialties of Hubei Province, 6 state-level excellent courses and 23 provincial-level excellent courses.

Paying more attention to the practical ability training, the institute has set up 18 modernized comprehensive training centers and 96 advanced and perfect laboratories. In detail, the centers include Marine Engine Center, Modern Manufacturing Center, Electrical Automation Center, Net-work Information Center, Business Center, etc; the laboratories are almost involving every aspect such as ship-building & repairing, ship engine room simulation, numerically-controlled manufacture, PLC & automatic control, computer net-work technology, hotel business etc. And among them, there are 6 laboratories which are the emphasized construction projects supported by the Ministry of Finance. Furthermore, a medium-sized factory can provide considerable superiority for training students' practical ability. The factory is the only one in China that has been qualified by API (American Petroleum Institute) and it is also the appointed factory to produce diesel engines for China's shipbuilding industry.
    The institute has a sanguine and industrious work-team, who has paved their way ahead with great enthusiasm and effort. For half a century, it has brought up a great number of specialized talents of various kinds, who are playing or have played an important part in various fields in China and overseas. On this land, there once lived and worked the forerunner of the Westernization Movement (19th cent.), whose name is Zhang Zhidong, the advocator of 'the strategy to revive China through the development of industry and commerce'. There lived the expert of shipbuilding and weapon in modern times –Xu Jianyin, and the founder of the Military Industry of the New Fourth Army (led by the Chinese Communist Party during the War of Resistance Against Japan)– Zhu Yi. On this land, there left the footprints of Wu Yunduo---China's Pavel Korqagin. Now in the new era, with full lofty sentiment and confidence, all the staff of the institute decide to make efforts together to develop our institute to be an excellent world-wide demonstrative higher vocational institute with their own enthusiasm, efforts and intelligence.
